1. The metro is the most convenient form of travel when trying to see all of the tourist sites in Paris.
2. Three weeks of baguette, cheese and pastries in the morning is enough to last me the rest of the year. (Notice I didn’t say wine!!)
3. My biggest complaint about France is all of the graffiti everywhere. It really takes away from the beauty of the cities in my opinion but I guess kids will be kids and vandalize and there probably isn’t much that can be done about that.
“In my mind I’m going to Carolina. Can’t you see the sunshine, can’t you just feel the moonshine?
Ain’t it just like a friend of mine to hit me from behind? Yes, I’m going to Carolina in my mind.”
As I sit on the train to our final destination, Clermont Ferrand, I am taken back home with the help of my tunes. I know I’m on a train and I am sitting beside a stranger but at the same time as I close my eyes it almost feels as if I am cruising in my car with the windows rolled down, zipping down the back roads to Grammies jamming to Eric Church, Hootie and Tom Petty. I know I have a long way until I get home but for a split second the homesickness subsides and I don’t have to worry about what will happen in the next 3.5 years or what I am missing back where all of our loved ones are. It’s a really nice feeling.
“Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.”
― Wendell Berry, A Place on Earth
I have decided that I will never again refer to this or any other trip we take as a vacation.
Great book to help plan your next trip to France. Hits all the highlights!
This blog site isn’t just about Bangkok and our life here but of all of our adventures over the next four years. We have plans to travel the world and my hope is that for anyone that reads the blog that you will find some useful tips or information to help you plan a future trip of your own.In 7 days Chris, Killian and I will be off on our next big adventure. We will be embarking on a 19 day tour of France. This will actually be our first family vacation just the three of us and I am thrilled but nervous at the same time, not so much nervous of traveling but nervous of what toddler tantrums await. I am going to stay optimistic and say that this will be the best first family vacation ever. With that being said, from May 29th– June 16th you will be seeing a lot of blog posts pertaining to this adventure!
