“Thailand looks good on you Beck!”

My sweet friend told me this last week and I think she is right. A first is was nervous about coming to a new place not knowing a soul but after a month of being here and really trying to immerse myself in our new routine and the Thai culture I am starting to believe that this is a great fit for me.

Life here in Thailand is easy. I have never in my life felt so relaxed or worry free. Don’t get me wrong there are hard days, for example trying to get your toddler, who needs a nap, home but the taxi refuses to take you or feeling lost in one of the huge malls to where I don’t even know where the exit is! Other than the few little hiccups that I might have a day and my biggest worry that evening is what playgroup will we visit tomorrow, my life is good here. Pai says “Thailand is a happy place and makes people happy”, she says that’s why I am hungry all the time…. Or it could be because she is a good cook!

I am so grateful to God for giving us this amazing opportunity. I still can’t believe it is really happening. As a family we are going to be able to go to so many places this year all around the world and what I really need is for someone to pinch me or wake me up because we never thought this would be our lives. I made a promise to go wherever and do whatever God called me to do and I will honor that promise but I am so grateful for the first few months to get used to my surroundings and establish a network of friends before I go out and do Gods work at the orphanage.

I truly believe that as a Christian if you are willing to give your life completely over to God the blessing that will be given to you will be so great that you won’t know how to handle it. Granted there are always hard times but I believe that I am not given anything that God can’t help me through.

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:2
