Ouch!

Today was the not so awesome part of our move to Thailand! We went to the Michelin clinic and were given several vaccinations! Chris had to get 6 shots total and I had to get 5! Let me tell you the typhoid shot is by far the worst, almost as painful as an epidural but … Continue reading

Building character is for the birds…?

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”

-Romans 5:1-5

Since I posted last, the weeks have been a total blur. Sometimes I really feel like building character is for the birds! There is just one issue after the other with our house and the move but this verse is very helpful when I need a reminder that the trials that we go through are here to make us stronger in our faith.

Life is a lot easier when you “Let Go and Let God.”

We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.

Update: We are still in the process of trying to get the house on the market; there were a few hiccups with the pricing of the house among other things but we seem to be on the upswing now. We will be meeting with our Realtor next week to sign papers, take pictures of the house, and really get the ball rolling. Chris has refinished the deck and it looks great, the dogs will be moving to my brother’s house this weekend (thank you Markie), the house and carpets will be cleaned (thanks to Groupon and Living Social), everything seems to be coming along nicely. Don’t get me wrong there is still a ton to do: sell the vehicles (if interested let me know), inventory the entire house, sell the house, visit friends and family, and the list goes on and on. I think the hardest part of the moving process is going to be picking up after Killian and Chris and always making sure the house is “show” ready when we leave for the day…. Men can be so messy.

“A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.”

home sweet home

I knew we were going to be moving and we only have about four months but I didn’t realize it would all be happening so fast. This week we have had two inspectors come to the house, Bud the siding guy and Bud the bug guy. Bud the siding guy was a very old, southern man that was amazed we were moving all the way to Thailand. (insert your best southern bumpkin voice) “So when you move to Thailand are you going to be speaking that there Japanese or Chinese?” I respond “ummmm we will be speaking Thai.” Bud-“Well I did a year and half in Japan 50 years ago in the Marine Corps and when I go to the Chinese restaurants here and try and speak Japanese to them they just don’t understand what I am saying.” Me- “well it is a completely different country.” Bud- “I guess…” (this is no joke, it really happened)

Here we go!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

if only the “here we go” dog was really here

I never thought I would be a blogger but I figured it is the easiest way for everyone that cares/is interested in what is going on with the three of us while we embark on this adventure of a life time.  We just accepted the offer last Friday to move to Bangkok, Thailand and it has already been a whirlwind!
