Here we go!

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

I never thought I would be a blogger but I figured it is the easiest way for everyone that cares/is interested in what is going on with the three of us while we embark on this adventure of a life time.  We just accepted the offer last Friday to move to Bangkok, Thailand and it has already been a whirlwind!

Chris and I are both starting Thai language class…. great just when I thought I was finished with homework forever.  Chris had his first class tonight and he basically learned how to say hello (sa wa de – that’s what it sounds like) so that was exciting!

In addition to Thai language classes 3 days a week for 2 hours (Chris is doing 4 days a week but the lucky guy gets to do that on Michelin’s dime) we will be going through cultural training next Friday.

We did receive a call today from the relocation service and the house will soon be going on the market!  So now the madness of packing, organizing, and really just cleaning up the house to sell begins.

Please keep us and our families in your prayers through this transition.

  3. Becky,
What an exciting time for you and Chris. I hope that Killian will remember some of it! It is great to be able to keep in touch this way; I am sure that you do not remember the days of no cell phones and no internet! Thank goodness for “skype”. When Fritz was in India, I only talked to him about once a week because the phone lines did not work very well. Technology is wonderful.

    Love, Dorreen

  5. Becky, I am a former childhood neighbor and friend of the Stanford family. My Girlfriend, Nataya Nernchamnong (Apple) is Thai and is in Bangkok because her Dad has been in the hospital. If you need help / advise, translation, Email her. I’ll give your Dad the contact info. Her email goes right to her Blackberry. Enjoy! It is hot over there and currently in the rainy seaso but the food is outstanding and the people are nice. David Hays

This within it’s self, will be a great education for you three. I have enjoyed our time together at Pickens City and will follow your blog. If I can do anything for you, to help you in this process – just ask. Looking forward to watching ya’ll settle in and learn how to live over seas! Best of luck to you three!
